Definite answer with new cancerous gene

A newly discovered cancer gene is enabling the diagnosis of adenoid cystic caranoima using a genetic test.

The gene identified by researchers at the Sahlgrenska Academy is a fusion gene - it has been formed by a chromosomal change that has brought together parts of two other genes. Until now researchers believed that the fusion genes only caused blood cancer, but the research group has now demonstrated that these types of cancer genes are common in glandular cancer.
